at least my car is cleaner
it's raining it's pouring i'm wearing flip flops (old navy $2.50 yes my feet get wet but it's a whole lot nicer than wet socks and i'm indoors all day anyway and whoa this parenthetical statement is going to be longer than the sentence it's inserted into) and the virginian is blasting old music. and it's cool because i know the songs (hello ace of base and yes i did like their radio songs) and they make me nostalgic and crap until i realize i didn't even like that whole period of my life (yay middle school).
gah. i'm tired and i want to sleep.

my virtual memories
Yeah so the blog has been falling behind. That's fine...because it's fine.
I'm kind of on a picture-a-day kick, where I take at least one photo a day and post it to my flickr. I like how flickr organizes things and I really like the nifty calendar view that lets me see my month at a glance.
I think that's why my blog has been lagging. I've been flickring my life instead of writing about it (which I'm sure is prob better because my writing has kind of been the suck lately ;P)

here we go again...
short dude: what nationality are you?
(just as an aside, i don't know why people even bother with conversation at clubs because you can't hear a freaking thing. i got introduced to like 4 people and i only caught the name of one.)
me: japanese (decided it would be unnecessarily snarky to say "american")
short dude: onamae wa nandesuka?
me: ...er...kelly? (never mind that he already asked me my name about two minutes earlier)
short dude: i speak a little japanese!
me: i don't.
okay that wasn't necessarily 100% true but freaking-A is it really necessary to bust out your japanese sKilLz every time you meet someone with japanese blood in her (or his) veins? is it supposed to be impressive? is my english so bad that people think it'll be easier for me to communicate in the tongue of my motherland (which may be Japan, China, or Korea, depending on who you ask)?
blah. i'm probably overreacting, but it gets freaking annoying after a while.
(okay and i also realize that i'm the last person who should be calling anyone short but i think the fact that he was extremely short is probably the only reason he talked to me which makes me a little sad)

cameras
I'm thinking about getting a nice camera...trying to decide between a DSLR and a bridge camera. I'm guessing that a DSLR would probably be a better long term investment (even when the camera becomes obsolete, I'll still have the lenses!) and will have more versatility. However, I'm kind of a photography novice and don't really know whether I'll be able to make the best of a DSLR (I know nothing about lenses and many of the manual settings on a camera). I'm also unsure of how often I'll be willing to lug around a case full of lenses/filters/etc. And I kind of like LCDs =\.
If I do get a DSLR, I'm thinking either Canon or Nikon...leaning towards Nikon (for some reason I find CF cards very unattractive) and if I get a bridge maybe a refurb Canon Powershot S-series camera (S3 IS?)? That way I wouldn't feel too bad about the money spent (found one for under $300) if I do eventually switch to DSLR.
I have time to think about it...I probably won't buy until next year after all the xmas crap is over and done with and I can start spending on myself again ;P

physical
yesterday morning i went to the doctor's for a physical. of course, they took height/weight measurements. when i got weighed, the number came up a bit higher than normal, but i was fully clothed (including shoes) so that was to be expected. when they came to measure my height however...
so i took off my shoes and stepped on the platform which happened to be very unsteady. my knees buckled a bit as i tried to keep my balance at which point the nurse took the reading as freaking 4'8"!!! i've been somewhere between 4'10" and 4'11" for years, have i been in denial/mismeasuring? did i freaking shrink (disastrous)??? like any person unhappy with their height, i panicked...and upon returning home after work, measured myself against a wall. yep, still 4'10.5" (rounding down to the neareset 1/2").
dammit.

yesterday's wahoo's story...
it was several minutes before we noticed this written on the ledge next to our table
So yesterday four of us (virginian, korean, hungry, me) went to Wahoo's for lunch. I was at the soda fountain getting water and the virginian was in line behind me. All of a sudden I felt two hands on my ass and I heard the virginian crack up. I was like WTF and turned around and looked down. I had just gotten groped by some toddler who thought I was her mother. Her real mother came rushing over, apologizing profusely. virginian was still cracking up. I finished filling up my cup and went to go find a table.

lunch
today we went to lunch early so we could get our flu shots.
went to the clinic and filled out forms. none of us (the korean, the virginian, the hungry, me) think we might be pregnant.
had storytime with the korean, who read sweet dream pie aloud to us in the waiting room.
never finished the book because we got called in to get our shots.
(i hate flu shots)
we went in one at a time. first the korean, then the virginian, then the hungry.
they all did their best to make me more anxious about the shot.
but by the time it was my turn, a doctor came over to the room and kicked the other three out because we were being too loud (haha)
went to a persian market that carried mochi ice cream and hello pandas.
went to get hawaiian food. beat a lunch rush of 20-30 high school kids (they're all allowed to go off-campus for lunch?)
ate at the office.
my arm hurts.
