Orange County Sunday

Yesterday I turned on my netbook after work and the display was black. I promptly freaked out. VV promptly googled the problem and found a solution. This pretty much exemplifies one of the most major differences between the two of us and quite frankly I'm not sure how he deals with it. 2 ePropZ 4 VV.

golden spoon was, understandably, pretty dead

compare to this photo

My mom texted me on Sunday morning telling me I should stay in Orange County because the rain was supposed to be pretty hideous that day. VV and I had a semi-productive morning. We went to Costco and then unsuccessfully tried to find brunch at Whole Foods. We ended up at the Lazy Dog Cafe where we had eggs and bellinis.

Random young Asian dad to his wife: This place is pretty fancy, huh?

No, it's not.

Anyway, we went to get me a chai latte after brunch and then went to an unsurprisingly empty Golden Spoon to satisfy VV's craving for something sweet. We sat, ate the coffee frozen yogurt and watched as rain suddenly start pouring onto to the parking lot. It lightened up to a mere drizzle right before we finished eating, lucky us.

trailer park fun bar in irvine?!

grand finale

We went to the Great Park to see if we could get a good view of the supermoon but we couldn't see a freaking thing due to cloud cover. After checking out the park (which none of us had been to despite its close proximity to us) and going to get dinner at a trailer park bar (which apparently has ping pong tables for BEER PONG in the back...I need to go check that out since I didn't see them when we went) we stepped outside to behold a semi-cleared up sky and the brightest full moon ever.

Good day, good night.

Stay close to me

blogging via email

the window washers are back

my limited japanese is telling me this white chocolate cookie package says "white boyfriend". am i missing something here?

really tasty wine for ~$12

the frozen croissants were all stuck together and really hard to pull apart

truffle butter slathered on a baguette + too much pinot noir

I ended up drinking too much of the wine and passed out on the couch. VV didn't want to move me and instead brought out some floor cushions and the comforter from his bed and made a "bed" for himself on the floor next to the couch.

Sleepover

It's been forever since I've gone over to anyone's place for the express purpose of sleeping over. I've stayed over friends' places and friends have stayed over at my/VV's place, but it's usually for the sake of convenience. Well, a couple weekends ago we had a real sort of sleepover complete with facial masks (peel-off!), manicures (which we never got around to because everyone was too asleep/drunk), drawing on people who fell asleep early (with makeup), and, because we're technically grown-up now, alcohol.

delicious and inexpensive (less than $10)!

because when you are drunk, everything is a microphone and everyone is your audience. btw, i really suck at just dance.

breakfast

Fun, fun night. Lina and Denise fell asleep while Leanne and I played Just Dance (I'm terrible at it), slathered makeup on ourselves, took pictures, did Lina's eyeshadow, did one of Denise's eyes (she was sleeping on her side) and two of her nails (I bought nail polish specifically for this night and was determined to use it), and killed a bottle of wine. I think we got to sleep at 4am.

Japan

shrine in tsukiji from 2009

Hi everyone. For those who were wondering, my dad is actually still here in the US right now and not in Japan. Thank you to those of you who were concerned ♥

To everyone else, I hope all of your loved ones in Japan are safe. I also hope that the tiny handful of people I know in Tokyo are doing well and my heart goes out to those who are in the Sendai area and were directly hit by the larger quake and the tsunami.

It's scary to see how disastrous this event was even though they're so extremely well-prepared for earthquakes over there.

Sunday lunch (edit: 3/21/11 (now with photos!))

I'm at a gourmet food shop in pasadena right now. I was just going to pick up lunch after browsing but its such an amazing day that I decided to have a glass of wine (viognier, half full right now) and eat out on the sidewalk.

There was an elderly lady--also eating alone--sitting close to where I am. She was my inspiration, haha.

she's the one in a red sweatervest

Girls in front of me are having a bottle of wine and a cheese plate for lunch. Yum.

Girls next to me talking about how "ethnic" oc is. Esp irvine. Haha. Earlier they were discussing facebook. And relationships. They sound like a stereotypical ditzy blonde, but they're both asian. Maybe my age or a little bit younger. I wonder if I sound like them when I'm w/ my female friends. I hope not. One of them sounds a wee bit buzzed.

I'm eating a ham and cheese sandwich. My god its a gorgeous day.

I'll edit this post w/ photos later!
