something not good...or something

So yes, I will need help building my ikea furniture. Once I get it. Day of move in because I still need to measure my place.

Using a shopping cart instead of a basket makes me feel terribly old. Ridiculous, I know. But that's just me.

Sometimes I feel a little cut off from the rest of what I think my world is. Especially now for whatever reason. It's sad. Factor in my extremely chapped lips and my broken toenail with the dried blood under it and I'd have to say that I'm feeling a little less than what I'd like.

i'm moving next saturday...!

i think i'm going to need less help moving and more help building =\

unless there's someone here who has a vehicle large enough to transport my desk.

any volunteers?

days w/o coffee: 29 (i'm impressed)

Hawaii: Installment One

Hawaii: June 24 2005

Love Steph for seeing us off, thanks to Dale for carting Aaron, Brian, April and I (and our massive luggage) to the airport :)

We took off at around four and got to Hawaii at night. My aunt and uncle met us at the airport (and lei-d us) before we went to get our rental car. After getting our car we followed them to the hotel room they got us for the night (!) and left after taking care of the paperwork and keys and all.

Aaron asked about a good place to go eat, so we went walking for what felt like forever to go find it. We went to Sansei where they had a special--all appetizers half off (BUTTERFISH)? Something like that. Anyway, it had a full bar and karaoke so April (Amber) and I (Carrie) got martinis (or at least I did) and somehow got up the nerve to sing us some Sherly Crow ;)

Did you know that liquor stores stop selling at midnight? :(

The walk back to the hotel felt a whole lot shorter than the walk over.

But MAN did I have to pee.

Hawaii: June 25 2005

On the second day my aunt and uncle met us at the hotel to check us out and take us to the timeshare we'd be staying in for the next week (THANK YOU THANK YOUU). Afterward they took us to lunch at the Big City Diner and then took us shopping at the Navy Exchange :D

We went back to the timeshare, made the queen bed in the living area, and the proceeded to waste a good portion of the evening sleeping ;P To make up for it, we brought out the Coronas and headed out to a bar where we got food, cocktails and shots of Grey Goose :D

Hawaii: June 26 2005

We started off our day by going to Ala Moana for some shopping and some Dippin' Dots shaved ice (it was the only place we could find). See that photo of Aaron and Brian in the mirror? They heard someone calling out "free samples!"

We went to Taste of Honolulu where we got good food (except Aaron, who got drunk instead) and I saw Keahiwai (!). April ended up driving back to the timeshare because Aaron was too unsober.

We went to Sunset on the Beach later that evening to see Series of Unfortunate Events.

Omegacool.

I did not know that SF has a population of sea lions. They smell.

Pier 39 has a stand selling fatty long stemmed strawberries and chocolate dip. Kind of pricey, but they were the best strawberries EVER.

Bonny Doon has a yummy raspberry dessert wine that they served us in tiny dark chocolate cups (about 1/2 inch high, diameter of a bottlecap) and a great sparkling wine that I can't seem to find on their freakin' website.

Garlic, when eaten in heavy doses, will persist for about two days.

Zachary's is some good eating.

And there is a good person up north that gives me a place to stay every once in a while.

tiny!

look at kanye west off script

he sounds a little nuts if you ask me. he could have said things a little more coherently. plus some of his claims are a little radical (but then again what else is new)

i know some of you probably hate me for not backing him 100%, but come on...

* * *

oh good lord i can't believe i have to do this...

okay. so here's the breakdown.

yes

-the media quite possibly has a white bias when it comes to portraying the people stranded in the city. example: this thing here which has become quite controversial.

-that there was a major screwup in dealing with the poorer people in the area. in this instance, a large portion of the disadvantaged population is black, hence why a large portion of the stranded population is black. do i think there was a slowup in the rescue effort because the stranded people are/were not white? beats me.

-that there was a major screwup in the rescue efforts in general. that's for sure.

-his music is omegacool. well, for the most part anyway.

no

-try as i might, i somehow can't believe that the government authorized the military to go out and shoot black people.

-i also don't think the government introduced aids to hold down the black population (check out his lyrics).

a weak argument always causes a person to lose credibility, and his radical accusations did just that--weakened his argument. he made some valid (truthful) points, but it was very poor presentation.

i once went up against this girl in a friendly debate (SCARY) and i had what i believed to be the easier side. i believed in what i was arguing for, and i think that she may have believed in what i was arguing for. right or wrong aside, she kicked my ass (which, btw, was something i knew was going to happen) simply because she is an asskicker when it comes to debate (and public speaking in general i believe) and i am a poor public speaker who cannot form a coherent argument to save my life.

that's all.
