I can hear AVP right now

The video game, that is. Arcade. I've had way too many beers and I'm working on a skinny bitch (the drink, not a person). Oh man I am buzzed.

No-purpose page

I really, really need to figure out what I want this blog to be for. The day-to-day stuff is more or less covered by flickr (add me if you have an account!) and I'm kind of all dried out when it comes to writing interesting stuff.

Anyway.

I really, really need to update the layout.

(I did update this page though!)

At least now I know what "exploding head syndrome" is

me: if this were three years ago i would have begged for ca phe sua da
me: for lunch

It finally dawned on me that I was probably able to semi-function on relatively little sleep during college because I was perpetually wired on coffee. Duh.

Yet another sleepless Sunday night...this one worse than before. I purposely avoided all caffeine (since I suspected it might have been the diet cokes I had at dinner that kept me up the previous week) so I wouldn't have the same problem...but it actually ended up worse than before. I guess I could blame it on my afternoon nap...but does one hour of fitful sleep really translate into 5+ hours of tossing and turning? Maybe it does. Blah.

At around 3:30 in the morning I turned on my iPod and surfed the internet for a bit, visiting blogs, checking Flickr, and looking up random stuff on Wikipedia (learned about fatal familial insomnia (scary!), exploding head syndrome (hope it never happens to me because I'm sure it'd make me piss my pants) among other things).

I think I finally dozed off somewhere between 5 and 5:30, woke up briefly around 7 or 8, fell asleep again until VV woke me up at 9. I haven't been this exhausted in a looong time and the fatigue is going to my head. It feels like my brain is trying to make a sneaky exit my squeezing its way out of the base of my skull and it's driving me nuts.

Sluggish

I had one bitch of a time sleeping last night, tossing and turning, getting up to use the bathroom, and enviously watching a fast-asleep VV who was ever-so-slightly backlit by the glowing numbers on his alarm clock that kept on counting, minute by wakeful minute, the amount of time that I had before I had to wake up the next morning (if I ever got to sleep, that is!). I finally fell asleep sometime past 4am. I have no idea how I used to function on 4-5 hours of sleep daily as a student! Although "function" may be a bit too strong a word seeing how I was frequently slept through class.

My eyes burned all morning due to lack of sleep and were unbearably itchy due to allergies. My whole eye area is red and my eyes are bloodshot and a bit watery. Anyone who didn't know me might assume I had smoked out on my way to work. I look horrible.

On a lighter note, though, I'm having an awesome hair day, made even more awesome by the fact that I haven't touched a hairbrush in at least two days. Perhaps it's the Shiseido shampoo and conditioner that my mother passed on to me after discovering she didn't like it quite as much as the friend who recommended it to her did. Whatever. My hair is the silver lining in my very cloudy-headed day.

Chinese gymnasts

Dude China has some really, really tiny gymnasts. One of them is about my height...and my weight.

This one (yes I do realize I just gave away my weight whatev).

That's right. One of their male gymnasts. All of the girls are way tinier than I am, if not height-wise (over half of them are shorter than me wtf) then weight-wise. Holy crap. I think they farm their gymnasts.

Egads my brain is going to fall out through my eyes

This cough is driving me insane. I'm afraid of going to the doctor, though, because last time I went in to get something checked out she told me to go get my blood drawn :(

Saw Wanted yesterday. VV loves Morgan Freeman in that movie.

Oh, and I suppose I should post my Twitter link. I've had it for a few months and keep meaning to integrate it into my blog but I've been lazy about doing freaking anything to my blog as of late. I seriously have a new page layout half finished and sitting on my laptop, but yeah. Not feeling motivated.

camera ish

Okay so I totally (well, not totally) busted my kit lens so I bought a new one. VV is also insisting that I get a real camera case which is actually a good idea and probably something I should have done ages ago ;P It's just so irritating having to carry two bags. Ugh.

Anyway, I ended up getting a 50mm f/1.8 lens as well which I'm excited about. I think I should also look into getting more filters!

Happy Lucky Day!

And what am I going to do to commemorate this fortuitous day? Do the Friday Five! ...

On a Friday

(gasp.)

Smells, and memories. Do you have a scent that when you smell it, brings up a memory? Do share.
This is a bit strange, but when I was in eighth grade I had a bottle of Victoria's Secret Pear Glace lotion in the small pocket of my backpack and it spilled all over the place. I think the fragrance has since been discontinued, but if I smell anything like it I'm instantly reminded of the eighth grade DC trip. RANDOM.

Songs. Is there a particular song that brings back happy memories? Song title and memory, if you care to share that much.
Songs in general kind of cause me to completely *flashback* to whatever point in time I frequently heard/listened to that particular song. Michelle Branch's first album always takes me back to early/mid-2002, Dashboard Confessional's Swiss Army Romance reminds me of first year, TLC's CrazySexyCool totally gives me that 1995 feeling, Ciara's whole first album feels of fourth year of college.

How about a song that brings up painful memories? Song title and memory, if you care to share that much.
Oddly enough, not really! I've never had that "I can't listen to this song because it reminds me of [insert traumatic scenario here]" or "I haven't been able to listen to this song since [insert traumatic scenario here] happened". Maybe I haven't had enough trauma?

Food. Is there a certain food that conjures up memories?
Er...vodka sometimes makes me think of vomit. I don't think that counts, though. Let me think harder...well if I see something like takuan in a jar I'm generally reminded of Saishin Dojo (I can't believe that was over half my lifetime ago facking A I'm getting old). Umm...Alerto's reminds me of college. Those passion iced tea things from Starbucks kind of remind me of PSAT prep class (teaching, not attending). KFC popcorn chicken + upside down caramel macchiato totally reminds me of watching back to back episodes of Sex and the City when I first discovered it during the summer of 2002 (and that's the summer I lost 10 pounds wtf)

Clothing? Do you have an item of clothing or if you see a certain item, does it make you think of a time/place or person?(sic)
My big blue Adidas jacket! I still have it! The last time I wore it was the night after I got my tetanus shot and had chills so bad I was shivering, even in my heated apartment. It was the biggest, warmest article of clothing I had on hand. Total flashbacks to early high school.

bedridden

Okay so it's not that bad. I can get out of bed just fine. I just choose not to. I've been sorta sick for these past couple of days, so my Monday and Tuesday have basically consisted of sleeping at random intervals and hanging around VV's in various states of undress (like you wouldn't do the same). I think I'm going back into the office tomorrow, though, since I'm doing better right now than I was at the same time yesterday.

Weekend was fun and eventful. Korean night on Friday (what was the name of that restaurant we were at..?!), brunch and dinner with various UCI people (old roommate CHRISTEH and dorm people) due to April's impending departure (:().

Photos will be up on Flickr shortly!
