Finally
So yes, I finally got around to posting the rest of the photos I posted a preview for a jillion years ago. Woot?
|
|
I was half asleep
I got to bed at maybe 2 or 2:30 the night before and woke up before 6:30 so I could make it out to LA before 8:30. I wanted to die.
Leanne probably got around as much sleep as I did but for some reason she had energy and I didn't. I suspect she's not human.

The WTF-ness of Facebook: Installation 1
Thanks to some friends who I suspect don't even like me there are some really weird photos of me floating around the internet. I'll post a few of the ones that are on Facebook just to help pass your lonely days w/o me since I'm going to be floating around in a big boat with little to no internet access for two weeks.
my comment: GREAT IT'S A PICTURE OF ME IN PAJAMAS A SUPERHERO MASK SITTING ON AN INFLATABLE COUCH
thanks dan!
his reply: i know! when's the last time you were doing all that at the same time?
Btw that is so not my inflatable couch. Or superhero mask. I was just using them. Don't judge me.

dark//light
Some more photos from that same day. Playing with shadows and light. I particularly like the "light" photo. Yes I was rolling around on the garage floor while wearing dry clean only clothing again.
Anyway, if all goes well I should have just landed in Barcelona when this publishes. Woohoo!
|
|
one last post before the scheduled posts start rolling
I slept for maybe 45 minutes. I'm trying to make sure that I'm sleepy enough to fall asleep on the plane. I'm consequently a bit wonky in the head so thank goodness I'll probably have no internet access after I board the plane from NY to Barcelona and here's hoping I can actually sleep for the majority of that flight.
I really really wanted to play Sonic the Hedgehog all night but I don't think VV was feeling that idea.

btw...
MY PERIOD CAME ON SUNDAY I AM SO HAPPY!
Suffering the worst of it yesterday and today so I should be better tomorrow on the omegalong flights :D Woooooo

Hi all
Frantically packing in an organized fashion. Made a detailed packing list for the first time since high school and it's making this whole process so much easier!
I'm going to be gone for like...13-14 days. Ish. But the blog will still be updated almost every day thanks to blogger's scheduled posts. OMGAWESOME. It'll be like I never left!
Today I was driving and saw a street sign next to a park with a picture of two children on a seesaw and I got superexcited because for some reason I thought it meant the park had a seesaw and I'd never been on a seesaw before and then I felt retarded because I actually craned my neck to look at the park to see if there was a seesaw and there wasn't and then immediately remembered that street signs never mean what they say. STOP obviously doesn't mean stop because I've never actually seen anyone stop at one SLOW CHILDREN AT PLAY is a total lie because those brats are madd fast and SPEED HUMP doesn't actually mean you can have a quickie in the street no matter how many times I tried to explain to the officer otherwise.
In short, no seesaws for me. At least not in the near future.

Orange you glad
wtf I hate bad puns.
I keep waking up late and I feel like utter crap most mornings so I've been going to work without brushing my hair or putting on makeup. But whatever, they're lucky I even bother showering in the morning. However, this means I look terrible in self-portraits. Also, my skin has been freaking out lately which probably means I'm PMSing. I'm actually pretty worried that I'm going to be flying out to Europe on the first or second day of my period which would suck bollocks so I hope it comes a couple days early I hope I hope I hope YOU HEAR THAT UTERUS BLEEEED BLEEEEEEEED!
^You don't have to look at my face in this one. You're welcome.

Testing scheduled posts
For a good cause!

Brief post. Suddenly swamped again.
1. What's the most strange thing anyone has ever pointed out to you?
2. What's the most obvious thing anyone has ever pointed out to you?
3. What's the most miserable thing anyone has ever pointed out to you?
4. What's the most extraordinary thing anyone has ever pointed out to you?
5. What's the greatest thing that anyone has ever pointed out to you?
So the Friday Five community rarely has any really compelling sets of questions any more and the above is really no exception, but #2 really struck a chord because we were sort of discussing this on Sunday.
I really, really love it when people come up to me and tell me that I'm short. The best was last year at a Vegas club when some guy that had been following us around tapped me on the shoulder and said "You know, you're really short." which was just awesome and what made it even more awesome was that he was about the same height as me in my heels which meant he couldn't have been more than 5'3" himself. But I digress.
So yeah, in case you didn't know, yes I do know I'm short and so do most of the other exceptionally short people out there so there's really no need to point it out. Do you go up to obese people and say "You know, you're really fat"? Didn't think so.

I'm getting frighteningly close to 3,000 posts
The first photo I totally screwed up doing the processing, the second photo was a happy accident, and the third photo is much better than the first two because it's way easier taking photos of things that are not yourself. I love the last two photos, though. I thought the color and light came through beautifully. All I had to do was crop them and add my url to the bottom. Looks good in black and white too, methinks.
This weekend == lots of overconsumption. Both Saturday and Sunday. Photos will be posted eventually...I'm really freaking behind on Flickr.

I need some fine wine and you, you need to be nicer
Actually I really did need some wine, fine or not (this was not fine wine it was a 2003 Cardinal Zin zinfandel that had been open for at least 5 days) because it had been a long. Ass. Week. (haha ass week) and everything kind of got done last night so YAY ME. So anyway, VV was watching hockey so I went outside and played with my camera which I haven't done in what seems like forever but really it'd only been maybe a week or so.
You know, there's been all this crap floating around my head that I can't bring myself to jot down for some reason or another. Mostly because it's either a) opinionated or b) personal. Which is stupid. I used to have no issue with blogging stuff like that. And it's not like the personal stuff is too personal, I mean I have boundaries and all but it's not like they're all-encompassing. I think I've been reading way too many of the "popular" blogs...and their comments. People on the internets (esp "Anonymous") are total fuckers and so many of them seem to think that bloggers should be catering to them and for whatever reason these assholes freak me out.
THIS IS DUMB. WHY AM I EVEN THINKING ABOUT THIS WHEN DID THIS STOP BEING MY BLOG.
I'm a human being with feelings, opinions, emotions. I'm insecure and overly anxious. I stress out easily. I'm afraid of most people. I have emotional slumps that can last for weeks. I'm also quirky, genuine, and occasionally funny. This blog is an outlet and a record for myself. If you're entertained by it, that's great! Glad to be of service. If anything I write speaks to you, inspires you, or is relatable, even better--and even better if you let me know.
In short, here's my disclaimer: I'm going to post whatever the hell I want. So watch out.
---
Today: VV picked up euros at the bank.
I am so not ready for the trip. Must start stressing about packing right about now. I used to make incredibly detailed packing lists when I was a teenager and consequently never forgot anything. Unfortunately, this has changed!
I'm probably going to give myself a heart attack trying to pack 13 days worth of stuff. Which would be a shame because then I wouldn't be able to go on the cruise.
Have a good weekend everyone!

chicken
I had a pretty wordy entry going on here but at the last minute I lost my nerve and deleted it. It was about insecurity etc etc and it seemed a bit self-indulgent to be posting something like that for the public. Even though this is my blog. And my domain and server space. Which I pay for. Which maybe gives me the right to be self-indulgent here on my blog and server space under my domain.
Well, too late now!

Happy Mo's Day
Sorry about the lack of updates/crappy updates. I've been up to my neck and then some in work. There's just a ton of shizzlenizzle we gots to get done. I'm actually at the office right now, so I guess I'd better gets back to work.

Reposting this photo in honor of the movie I saw yesterday
Guess what it was.

Just my imagination baby...
I'm craving a warm summer night with friends, getting tipsy off of mojitos (or something else equally light, refreshing and alcohol-infused). Preferably in someone's backyard. Even better if there's a swimming pool, although I suspect that drunkeness and swimming pools don't mix very well.

Midori is Green
I like the processing on the first photo except it made my skin seem overly...vivid. Anyway, too lazy to do any intensive post-processing so I just left it at that.
Oh...and the day I was taking these photos I totally broke the lamp I was using for lighting :( I didn't tighten the screw on the clamp and it fell over and hit the concrete. It still works, but now the shade is kind of cracked. I suck.
---
Cruise is coming up in three weeks and I am not mentally prepared. It's going to take me about two weeks to pack for that sucker. Actually that totally reminds me of our 8th grade trip to Washington DC. I remember one kid had packed a month in advance. Whaaaa.
I went to the gym TWICE last week. 100% improvement on the week before that!
Also, I just found a carrot that looks like a snail. But with no shell. Which would make it a slug. Wait, I'll take a picture. Here. Actually, that's a really crappy picture. I'll post a better one later.
I'm totally gonna get Huntz scented tampons for his birthday
And finally...happy Cinco de Cinco!

Ahhh
Whyyyy oh why do people in this office building not flush the toilet when they're done. I swear, at some point during the day I will see at least one toilet full of toilet paper and pee (and sometimes poop) and sometimes at the end of the day there's multiple toilets that haven't been flushed WHAT THE HELL. IS IT THAT HARD TO FLUSH THE TOILET WHEN YOU'RE DONE.
Speaking of which, I have to pee. And I will flush the toilet when I'm done like I always do UNLIKE SOME PEOPLE.

That "J" word
This post on JAK & JIL was brought to my attention via this blog (fellow Japanese American chick) and the whole thing made me kind of sad.
Apparently, the author of the blog had used the word "Jap" in his post. I believe it was an honest mistake, and he changed the wording after it was called to his attention that the word is an racial slur and offensive to some. Fine. Then he posted a somewhat defensive "apology" that kind of rubbed me the wrong way, but I can kind of understand where he's coming from since some of the commentors on the original post kind of went overboard with their criticism. Fine. What really bothered me were the comments that defend the usage of the word and deem anyone who finds the term "Jap" offensive as being "overly sensitive" and that we should just "get over it".
What??
When the word "Jap" is used to refer to the Japanese in any way, it stings a bit. Of course, because I am a Japanese-American with family that was interned, I was made aware at a pretty early age that it was used during the war as a derogatory term. Unfortunately, "Jap" is a pretty logical way of shortening "Japanese" or "Japan" so the term is still used pretty frequently given that many people simply don't know it as a slur. Can't fault them for that. However, to continue using it as such even after being informed that it's an offensive term? And to defend yourself for doing so by telling anyone offended that they're being irrational? Ouch.
