Now those of you who know me know that I don't cook. Anyone who has ever lived with me can attest to that. Now, with that said, I am (at least most of the time) not so incompetent that I can't follow a recipe, so I always end up making something or other for Thanksgiving. This time I'm bringing a dip and dessert, and both things need to be baked. It's inevitable that my mom will be monopolizing the oven at home since she kind of needs to cook the turkey, so I'm doing my "cooking" here. Of course, I do not have any bakeware. I do not have a cutting board. I do not have a peeler. I do not have a small saucepan. I do not have an electric mixer.

Well, make that all past tense. I now have all of those things. Plus another bottle of Aveeno since I ran out of lotion this morning.

Speaking of electric mixers, I once had a brief tussle with one. Needless to say, the mixer won and I slunk away with my tail between my legs and large welts on my fingers.

Time to spend another fifty dollars on more crap that I need and should--but don't--have. Flour, sugar, eggs that are not expired, etc. Blah.

As it turns out, it had more to do with the angle than anything. That, and the fact that the nail clippers were cheap. In any case, I need new nail clippers.

In other news, I found Pravda at a nearby liquor store. My nail clippers may be cheap, but my vodka sure isn't. I know my priorities.

It feels nice being in the apartment. It's still a bit too empty. I just bought two tires this morning and I am now quite broke.

I had a dream that my uncle and grandpa gave me a bunch of their old furniture. Lots of chairs and couches. Oh, and my apartment was more like a house. It was big and beautiful. And for some reason I had a piano. Hm.

I'm amazed that, internet junkie that I am, I was able to survive this long without ready internet access.

Speaking of deprivation, this is week 12 without coffee.

Anyway, I think I'll celebrate my official comeback with a photo.

Okay make that two photos. Both are from my last trip up north (Labor Day weekend). To your left, garlic fries. Strongest garlic fries ever. They stayed on my breath for about 36 hours after I ate them. I think that when I took this photo, I was still a bit woozy from wine tasting. To your right, random dude in Santa Cruz who was running around taking random photos of people. When Brian asked if we could take a photo in return, he was more than happy to strike a pose.

The past two weekends have been excellent. Maybe I'll tell more later.
