gluttony
Quite the eventful weekend was had in these past few days. I would call it my first official summer weekend, although the first official weekend of summer happened the previous week.
Indulged in fast food goodness (in the form of a shared slush and crepe @ Genki Living (dessert before dinner!) as well as soup and fries from another restaurant (Chicken Dijon) which we brought back home to share) on Friday post-work, relaxing in front of the television watching a movie VV had recorded (Lost Highways left me somewhat confused) on his cable box (or whatever).
The following day I indulged in far too much beer and who knows what else (what was in those cups exactly?) at a birthday/housewarming celebration at my favorite old married couple's relatively new living quarters. The end of the night is quite cloudy in my brain and will have to be clarified by someone who was not quite so inebriated. This, of course, resulted in a Sunday hangover which was only somewhat ameliorated by my morning shower. A little post-summit Bodega-ing and imbibing some very ineffective "hair of the dog" remedies and I was on my way home somewhat later than expected...only to be faced by a "freeway closed" sign and some very bad traffic.
And here I am this morning. I did not make it to the gym (was not keen on running the treadmill on five hours of sleep because that's generally how I end up falling off) and I am bloated (weekend excess + pms) but rather refreshed! Summer is good.

it's summer (finally)
Bagels are pure evil, but I could not resist the siren call of the asiago cheese carb/calorie bomb singing to me from the office kitchen. The deadly combo of a morning bagel w/ cream cheese (so bad) plus the food festival this evening (bloody hell!) definitely classifies today as an off-day...but of course, the upcoming bbq on Saturday and (hopefully) drinks w/ the girls on Sunday (believe me, drinks will be in order) means that perhaps this isn't so much an off-day as it is a quick slide into very unhealthy eating habits.
My winter went out with a bang via a short, fun jaunt in Vegas during a whirlwind March and I've since been enjoying a fairly low-key, uneventful spring. But here we are in the first few days of my favorite season and, slowly but surely, my schedule is picking up again. There are things to do, places to go, people to see, and lots to look forward to (I'm sure!). So here's hoping for another great summer :D

Maybe I'm just finally realizing that life is way too short
First off...happy (belated) birthday to DAMON who is getting mighty old! He turned 28 on Sunday!
And maybe I'm getting old too, because my bullshit tolerance is decreasing exponentially and I'm thinking and hoping and wishing that I could just cut all the poison out of my life and just quit stressing about people and things that should not be stressing me out.
UGH.
I think I'm just cranky because I'm not feeling too well.

Friday off
This is my first Friday off and it feels like a Saturday!
7:30am: Go to get blood drawn. VV went with me. I cried (seriously).
8:30am: Curl up into a sad ball on VV's couch with little phantom pains running through my arm while VV makes eggs.
9:00am: Head over to UCI hockey rink.
10:00am: Leave hockey rink after Brady and Kris arrive to go back to VV's place.
11:00am: VV's dad picks me up and we go to buy wine and pita bread.
1:30ispm: I'm back at VV's and the Korean and VV come back home. I put frozen pizza in the oven for a late lunch and play Puzzle Fighter.
2:30ispm: I fall asleep on the couch while VV and the Korean play video games.
3:00ishpm: I go upstairs to bed and fall into an off-and-on sleep again.
6:00pm: Wake up and am shocked to discover it's 6pm.
6:30pmish: Start preparing stuff for chili rice.
7:00pmish: Eat dinner, clean up, watch TV.
What a normal Friday would be like?
6:45am: Leave for the gym.
8:45am: Return from the gym and get ready for work.
9:50isham: Leave for work.
7:30ishpm: Leave work.
This alternative work schedule isn't too bad really :)

happy fathers day everyone! i hate my allergies!
|
|
gargh pollen
Allergies have been attacking me but I've been fending them off with generic Claritin (thanks mommy), eye drops and exercise (makes my irritated eyes feel better for some unknown reason).
I finally saw the SATC movie last weekend. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it'd be, but I wouldn't say it was fantastic either. I think they tried to hard to capture the spirit of the television show. They reused memorable dialog (e.g. "I love you, but I love me more." (whited out because it might be a minor spoiler...highlight to read)) and most of the characters (especially Samantha and Charlotte) ended up being caricatures of themselves. Result? The script wasn't as smart and funny as the original series. I'll probably end up buying it when it comes out on dvd anyway. As a die-hard SATC fan I fall right into their target demographic *sigh*
I get to meet some of VV's friends (that I haven't yet met) on Saturday. Eee!

We now have an office PS3...heh.
And for the rest of you...are you dudes doing alternative work weeks or whatever they're calling it?

it's JUNE!
First things first...happy (belated) birthday to LE BUBBLE BOY who turned TWENTY-FIVE on the FIRST of THIS MONTH.
Ah, June. First month of summer. It's starting to warm up a bit (yayyyy) and I'm looking forward to using VV's pool on summer weekends (yayyyy).
I was looking at old blog posts and it seems that the past few summers have been pretty omega good. Even when I blogged about how boring my life was, it really wasn't all that boring. Right now I think my life is pretty mundane. Ever since my whirlwind March I've become quite the homebody methinks. Perhaps it's time to get up and out again!
