Carnival Cruise: Day 2 (pt. II)
This is going to be a super-long entry. It's more for my benefit than yours, so go ahead and skip the text and just look at the pictures :)
Cruise: May 20, 2006 (Saturday) continued...
Back on the Ship
Was it at this point when April and I hit the dry sauna? I don't quite remember, but I do know that we were freezing freezing after waiting outside the boat for so long so it would have made sense maybe. The dry sauna was nice...all stone and wood with a very wood-y smell. We lay in there undisturbed for maybe 20 minutes or so? It was all good except for the lights...they should have had some sort of frosted shade or cover over the lights in the ceiling. They were a bit piercing.
Captain's Ball
Ahh, the Captain's Ball. Hors d'oeurves and unlimited free drinks made me a happy girl :) I had 2 (maybe three?) glasses of wine. I also tried a Manhattan which was just waaay too strong for me...Darlene had to finish it since I'm too pansy. There were a bunch of waiters walking around with trays of food and cocktails that were ours for the asking. There was a live band playing, but there was only one couple on stage dancing. I think they were probably seasoned ballroom dancers but in my state who knows?
I think the whole point of the ball was not to eat and drink for free, but to get a glimpse of our crew--the ones who made sure the boat stayed afloat and ended up where it was supposed to. Well, glimpse we did and buzzed we (well, I) were. I think the Mom had six cocktails =0 At least that's what I heard.
Drinking up at the Captain's Ball.
Karaoke
Of course, we went to the lounge after the ball was over for karaoke :) What did April and I sing that night? Stay by Lisa Loeb? I was quite tipsy by the time we made it up to the lounge and I think it showed.
Oh, before we went up to sing there was some woman who went up to sing Tina Turner's "Rolling on a River". She started to dance (pictured below :)) which is something I think I accidentally (but quite fortunately) got on video. For some reason I always accidentally film things instead of taking photos of them =\ Happens twice as often after a few drinks.
I believe we left the lounge to go to dinner after singing. It's all good.

Dinner
the Mom showing Luci who's boss
I don't remember very much about dinner. I don't even remember what I ate...well...except for the cream of mushroom which was very, very good. I probably had wine with my dinner ;P I didn't need it, though. But I suspect you already knew that.
Rest of the Night...
So of course when we got back to the room the towels were folded into an animal shape. This time the animal was a pig that was chillin like a villain in my sunglasses. Did the stupid pig not realize that he was indoors and did not need sunglasses?
We got changed so we could hit Club Rex again. This time we were beyond tipsy. I think I decided to forgo any bar treats for myself since I was already pretty buzzed and didn't want to be trashed. Well all went up, wandered around, danced, etc. It was all good until we went to the restroom...I was in one of the stalls when I saw April's foot come sliding under the door. It seems that there was a puddle of water in front of the sink and alcohol + heels + puddle = not good. Point of impact was her tailbone-ish area (OUCH) and she wasn't feeling the whole club thing after that little spill so we went down to the room to hang out and ice her back. Took a quick trip to the infirmary and then settled down for a night of music videos on the stateroom tv.
Day 3 coming later :)
