This website is very cool.Evidently, the man and woman in featured in the website (Johnny and Sally) are actually siblings (dammit siblings!)--the Perettis. Jonah Peretti is the one who asked Nike to embroider the word "sweatshop" on a pair of shoes using NikeID. After some lengthy debate (via email) with Nike on how the word "sweatshop" is a perfectly acceptable word (i.e. not profane, racist, slang, etc.) to put on his shoes he finally gave up, requesting instead a "snapshot of the ten-year-old Vietnamese girl who makes [his] shoes". Nike didn't respond.
And that's what I learned in Asian American Studies 60B.
*I'd been misinformed...the people in the site are actors.
