Trying out my hand at video editing again. Using Openshot. There's some weird flickery shit that happens at the end of some of the clips but I guess that's what happens when you use open source.
Woke up feeling okay despite by overindulgence in alcohol-laden beverages the previous night. Decided against any strong drinks that evening at my family birthday dinner at Settebello in Pasadena. There was, however, a very delicious red velvet cake from Porto's following the meal!
First few photos are from Cook's Tortas where VV and I shared sandwiches and a melon agua fresca for lunch.
April and Josh's post-wedding rooftop party! Ended up terribly drunk by the end of the night. Left before midnight which was probably a good idea because I'm sure we would have done birthday shots for me if I'd been around at that point which I'm sure would have been bad news all around.
Didn't take as many photos or as much video as I thought I had, probably because I was too drunk. Excuse the shittiness of the photos I did get. I'd only had the camera for maybe two days at that point and was still trying to get used to the settings.
New camera, new-ish haircut (had cut it about 2 weeks before taking these photos) and new shoes! Was especially excited about the new camera (d7000!) so I took some garage photos for the first time in forever!
Chose that last one because my legs look less sausagey than usual heh.
Just got back from Berkeley today. Leaving for the east coast tomorrow. Have loads of photos from our trip + party stuff + birthday stuff and I suppose I'll have more photos from our east coast trip by the end of the week.
Our last day in the bay! Hung out with my brother this afternoon. Went to nerd places (Games of Berkeley had VV's heart all aflutter), Cafe Brazil (so delicious) and a cafe that had beer (though I didn't get any). Evening found us in palo alto with bubble boy stuffing ourselves with korean meat (yeah baby). We have to wake up at six-ish tomorrow (maybe 6:30 for me heh) to get a sort of early start. Sighbot. Photos later when I have a little time to cull and edit...which may be on the plane monday morning (hrahhhh) Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry
Currently full of pizza and wine. Don't think I'm going to the gym tomorrow because it's nearly 2am and I don't want to be totally wiped out tomorrow. This week went by too fast. Today we tried La Note (so delicious), pillaged daiso and amoeba (esp amoeba), saw PORTISHEAD, had gelato, picked up and consumed papa john's (was open so late!), watched late night television and I finished off our v. Sattui bottle of semillon that we opened on tuesday. Oxidized? Yes, kind of. Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry
Hanging out with piggy (who is starting to look a bit dingy...how do I clean him without destroying his softness?) and VV in the hotel room (a different one now). VV and I had Thai takeout and wine/cheese that we brought with us from V. Sattui in Napa. We left Napa yesterday morning and got here too early for checkin but they gave us our room anyway.
We had lunch/brunch with my brother at Little Griddle in SF which was pretty delicious. Brother had to go to work after that so he drove us to the Union Square-ish area where VV and I did some shopping. I bought too much stuff using VV's credit card because I ummm forgot my wallet. Don't worry, I'm paying him back!
Too lazy to edit photos right now so all you have is this photo of me (and piggy!) with our red headboard in the background.
Totally felt the second 3.8 earthquake today (didn't feel the first one only know about it because Xin texted me about it) oh baby baby!
Just came back from wine tasting! I haven't been to Napa in over 5 years (last time was Feb 2006 holy crap) and I think a new trip was long overdue. Also, I thought I didn't buy any bottles the last time I went but apparently I did...? Whoops. Well, I bought way more this time around.
Hanging out at the hotel with piggy + a cookie before we need to head out for dinner in an hour or so. I specifically chose a place that was close (less than a mile, aka walking distance) from the hotel.
VV and I are on our first multiday trip since Japan. Piggy got to come too.
We drove up and kicked off our trip with a dinner at Ad Hoc on fried chicken Monday WOOHOO. SO GOOD. I ate just a little throughout the day so I'd be sufficiently hungry for dinner (4 courses of Thomas Keller deliciousness!). I ended up being pretty stuffed but not uncomfortably so. We walked down the street for about a block and a half after dinner just to see what was around. We happened upon a mysterious stone mushroom garden, took photos, and headed back to the car.
We accidentally missed our exit off of the 29 and ended up backtracking via Washington to get to the restaurant. We passed by French Laundry...! Next time, I hope!
"*sigh* I'm back. I felt pretty crappy like...all weekend I suppose. Took a looong walk around Mesa Court with the roomie and just talked with her. The night air and the talk did me good. We were walking for like what, two hours? Dang. I feel a lot better though."
I was still incredibly irritated with my ex-boyfriend (see this for reference) and was feeling rather down about the whole situation. April, being as lovely as she is, took a walk around the Mesa Court housing complex with me and helped me talk it out of my system. Before leaving I changed my AIM away message (this was 2001, away messages were crucial) to let everyone know I was out taking a walk. When we got back, we had a phone message. It was from a guy in my lower division anthropology class that I had exchanged information with a week or so prior. I was nervous about college in general and was making an effort to do everything right. Part of this involved fighting my introversion and being friendly to people in my classes and trading email addresses and phone numbers just in case! This particular boy (let's call him S-squared) was sitting across the aisle from me in my anthro discussion class and seemed nice enough.
The phone message was S-squared calling to see if I was all right. "I saw your away message. I usually take walks when I'm upset" the message said "so I wanted to call to see if you were okay." April was there when I played the message (which was left on the landline in our dorm) and was a bit puzzled. "Who is that?" she asked. "Some guy in one of my classes that I exchanged information with" I said, a bit baffled by the message. I tried not to read too much into it, though. Perhaps he was just a nice guy.
Just trying to make up for my absence (just in case anyone missed me I suppose) these past couple of weeks. Especially since VV and I are taking our first real vacation since Japan back in 2009. Fo serious. I haven't taken more than one day of vacation at a time in over two years and methinks it's about time yo.
Anyway, these photos are from a birthday that involved a restaurant that did not serve anything fried, some pretty highfalutin photobooths (both price and quality-wise), and horas y horas of noraebang. Woooo!
