Blip
I think I have a pretty lame-ass layout update (very different from a very lame ass-layout update esp since I don't think there is such a thing as a lame ass-layout) coming up soon. Whipped up something simple this weekend. Need to slice it up and change my template. Time to incorporate some PHP for the first time evAr.
Little slow on the uptake yes I am.

Photography
I created a photography blog some months ago but haven't done much with it. I finally updated it with some photos from my first "shoot" which was really just Sara and Damon just being very generous with their time and indulging my whims :) Thanks you guys!
Click here for the blog. The layout is both shoddy and temporary, but it works for now!

Birthday crawl (HAPPY 27th LEENERS)
I was still vaguely cranky on the day after the blender incident (see previous post) but not quite as despondent, so I finished off the half-full bottle of wine I had in the fridge and had a 1/2" of whiskey to follow it up. I don't like drinking when I'm really really sad (when I'm really really angry it's okay though) because I think I end up feeling worse and I don't ever really feel like drinking when I'm sad anyway, which is probably good. Anyway, I went to bed a teensy bit drunk that night and the next morning I felt kind of awful physically but my mood had inexplicably improved tenfold. Just in time for the weekend (woo!)
VV had a small food/dvd/game get-together for the Korean on Saturday afternoon. I was only able to attend long enough to sit through the movie (recommended!) and scarf down too much pizza and mac and cheese because I was starving after my workout and possibly an insufficient number of carbs in the previous 24 hours. Also, I did a little bit of clothes shopping (thank you for the gift card April <3) at Anthropologie between the gym and some other errands. I haven't bought any new clothes or shoes (aside from my Oktoberfest costume which totally doesn't count) since my Japan trip in August so yeah AWESOME.
Later that day I drove out to the LA area for a birthday dinner/bar crawl. It was full of randomness (cheesy self-made shirts, tiaras, dead pigeon, running into high school friends of birthday girl's bf, snuggie pictures) and fun. Requisite random assortment of photos ahead! Btw, it was dark and we were moving a lot so a lot of the photos are freakishly grainy.
I got back at around 5 in the morning and was greeted by VV clamoring down the stairs to give me a hug. He told me he woke up not too long before I got in and couldn't get back to sleep when he saw I wasn't home yet :(
Still haven't caught up on my sleep yet. Need to go to bed early tonight!

Is there a light at the end of this tunnel?
Work has been freakishly stressful lately. It's kind of getting to the point where the first thing I want to do in the morning when I wake up is shoot myself in the face because maybe I'll be able to legitimately call in sick and maybe even take some time off guilt-free. Also I seem to be bouncing between being unable to sleep and being unable to stay awake. It's been kind of a shitty week and to top things off I BROKE A FUCKING BLENDER.
Seriously. And it gets worse.
Wanna know how I broke it? I somehow left a fucking spoon inside of it. WHAT THE FUCK. Anyway, the few seconds it took for me to register what was happening and the few seconds it took me to turn it off was enough for the spoon to crack the blender and send shards of glass flying everywhere. I miraculously didn't get cut (THANK GOODNESS) and after it was all over I just sat in the corner of the kitchen and cried which totally seems overdramatic but having something like this happen (consequences of my own stupidity ugh) on top of the awful day I'd already had was like somebody just vomited on my shit sundae of a day. YUM.
Anyway, VV vacuumed and wiped down the floor and after I stopped crying and my hands stopped shaking I cleaned up the counter and washed all the dishes. I didn't feel much like cooking anymore so I comforted myself with two slices of peanut butter toast drizzled with honey.
---
I took these photos a couple of days ago. The bed usually isn't made, but I straightened it out for the photos. The stuffed pig is a souvenir from our trip to Japan last August.
Oh, and I totally made a spreadsheet with a list of all my shoes and clothes (well, the stuff I have at VV's anyway)! I'm going to try and get through as many items as possible. We shall see how that goes!

Eating crackers because I'm good at eating crackers
When VV gets french fries I'm kind of physically unable to not eat any of them. I think the only time I was able to refrain was the time we ate at a Jewish deli and me being ignorant of Jewish dietary laws as I am was fearful of eating anything from VV's plate (including his french fries), afraid that I'd unknowingly violate some law of Kashrut and offend the proprietor (who had taken an interest in me and my large camera and was consequently sort of watching us).
---
I was thinking this morning that I should make it a goal to wear everything in my wardrobe at least once before the year is up. Except before I did that I think I'd have to catalog everything in my wardrobe and the mere thought of doing that gives me a headache.

Little potato pancakes
La Tartine Gourmande is my newest blog obsession. I'd been following her flickr for a couple of months and just recently (as in maybe a couple of weeks ago) started to read her website. Her post about râpés had me drooling so I decided to shrink them down into finger food for new year's eve/day. Unfortunately, they didn't turn out as crispy as I'd hoped (apparently I hadn't drained enough water from the grated veggies) and I kind of over nutmeg'd the whole thing (whoops). Still, topped with crème fraiche, green onions and either some bacon or a slice of smoked salmon they were reasonably edible. I'm going to give it another shot someday, and I promise they'll be better!
You can see how crazily scarred my cutting board is. Eek!
---
I seriously, seriously wish I had dinnerware that is just plain white. No textures, no designs, just smooth, bright white. I never understood the appeal of fancy china patterns or any of that. I feel like it just distracts from the food.
