Oh yes, looks like I'm going to be re-hired for the PSAT program thinger at school *yessss* so I get to have a little peace of mind--it'll be great if I can find another job since the program will only last for about five weeks (I'm assuming) but if I don't, it won't be the end of the world.

Oh yeah and Cal Girl is coming back. With any luck, so will SD Girl.

Too bad Stanford Guy will be missing =\

Going to be a crazily hectic day tomorrow. I hope it doesn't rain.

DMan (9:44 AM): you need ASS!!!
Somehow, taken out of context, that looks quite wrong.

It's a beautiful night/morning. Or so it feels.

Today I was walking through the student center and this girl (okay maybe too old to call a girl...) came up to me and asked "Are you Korean?" I'm assuming she was an exchange student. Anyhow, I just stared at her for a split second while letting her question sink in and then replied "No I am not." Funny that out of all the actual Koreans that were around (come to think of it there was a Korean BBQ going on not too far away...) she picked someone who looked Korean but wasn't....heh. Anyhow.

D (anorexic cool ranch dorrito addict D) told me I should grow a mustache so I'd look older. He also called me and Apes fat. HA.

It's late and I'm rambling. I'm going to bed now.

If you want to know where the post w/ the monstrous amount of comments went it's over here.

I don't think any post of mine has ever been commented that heavily on...except for that one time DK posted a URL w/ some kooky characters in it and BlogBack somehow turned it into sixty-some-odd posts. That doesn't count. Besides, it fixed itself over time.

Congratulations to Sar for landing that internship =)

Something interesting found through UJ who hates computers. It requires Windows Media Player.

Brief thought after reading his discourse on computers: I'm going to die alone.

Anyhow, I met Sar for coffee this morning before I headed off for school. We saw some seniors ditching class at Starbucks. It was strange seeing them. Knowing what they were going through at this moment. All that. What we were doing one year ago.

Before I get back to my horrible suckaged Scheme project...

I think it's really sad that I'm going to have to superglue my logo to my car before I take it to school. Okay so I don't have to but there's a good chance that some moronic bastard might try to take it (probably to replace the one that got stolen from his car).

I really can't wait for the school year to be over. I need to find work, I need to do a lot of things. I just want to be out of school so I can pull myself back together--I feel like a mess. Once I find a job for the summer everything should be okay--for now anyway. I'm not taking summer school so I get to have a breather (probably my last until I graduate) and chillax for a bit. There are a lot of other things I feel I need to do over the summer. I need to get a head start on my ICS courses for fall quarter. I also want to take a few flute lessons. Those among other things....

I really want out now. Three more weeks. Seems like an eternity.

-I miss Jack in a Crack fries.
-I really need to get a CD wallet
-Before yesterday I had never driven a new car before...ever
-Now that I think about it--I've only burned one audio CD...ever
-I want to get The Sun Also Rises by Hemingway
-Thanks to AP English I can spell "Hemingway" correctly
-But Sar can't...hahahahah (just kidding...sort of ;))
-I need to finish my program
-I hate Scheme
-This weekend is going to be mad hectic =(
And now you know what I've been up to.

I can't believe that mofo hasn't posted our project scores yet =\

Dang it!

I heartily dislike my ICS22 TA.

On the other hand I love my ICS22 LARC tutor. For those of you who sign up for it in the future....M. TAN is the one to sign up for =D

(link) Midori | 0 comments | 10:09 PM

Congrats to the Brother for his über high score in physics and his perfect score on the math. G'dang I wish my SAT II scores were that high. Too bad everyone in the family couldn't get those smarts =\

There was an interesting screwup at Starbucks yesterday which ended up with me walking out with two drinks. I did manage to drink both of them, but it didn't give me the caffeine rush I had anticipated. Granted I wasn't as sleepy as I was when I left the house, but it didn't really keep me up either.

I have to register in a few days...I still don't know what to take as a third class! Dear....oh dear.

On my way back from lab this afternoon I passed by star planter and there was this guy sitting there. He was just sitting there with this empty look on his face. He was staring straight ahead, but I don't think he saw anything that was in his line of vision.

The whole encounter made me feel sad.

Going home tomorrow.

That's all.

Said Prof T tugging on his pinstriped earthlink polo shirt...

Prof: ...you never give a bunch of programmers shirts with pinstripes on them!

Random Girl in Lecture: Why?

Prof: Do you know what pinstripes do to fat people?!

Aaagh does that mean that all programmers are fat??? Once I was walking with K from our ICS LARC session and we saw his cousin walking the opposite way on ring road. According to K, his cousin was at one time not much of a programmer--and then all of a sudden he learned how to program. Since then, his cousin's weight had gone up considerably. *gah* I've gained weight this quarter as well--I also learned how to program this quarter.

Coincidence? I hope so =P Eesh.

On a slightly different note, my program works. I got it working and bug-free relatively early last night. I met DMan and T at the Gateway Commons afterward. At around eleven we headed over to the library to get Ape and then we went to Diedrich. While crossing the bridge DMan and T started yelling really loud in Spanish. Quite funny, especially considering the fact that DMan is a Korean guy who (despite what he claims) doesn't speak Spanish at all. Ape and I got hot chai and DMan and T got the usual Suite 203 drink--jumper cable coffee. I've tasted it before....good stuff. I'm just afraid to actually drink that thing. Haha...I'm such a wuss. Actually, I wouldn't mind having one every Monday morning. Ah well. What can I do foo. Maybe if I leave for class 45 mins early (hahahahah yeah right).

I'm tired. I've still got class and a little testing to do for my program. Blah. It's all good.

Random thoughts for today:
-I need to brush my teeth twice to really get the coffee taste out of my mouth.
-I always feel like crap Monday and Wednesday mornings
-My discussion section for ICS is slowly dwindling down to nothing
-I have this perpetual senseless nonsense running through my head...it's frustrating
-I feel like eating a cup o noodle
-But I'm not
-I can't wait until it's warm enough to sleep with the window open so the breeze can come through
-It feels good to have my program somewhat ready more than 24 hours before the due date/time
-It also feels good to understand my program
-Although dorm life has it's advantages I can't wait until the quarter ends and I can move back...I'm tired and I want to go home.
*sigh*

If you know what instrument I have nothing but contempt for (well...sort of) then you deserve applause.

If you know my favorite type of classical music you deserve much, much more (well...sort of).

If you call me my phone will vibrate and have aural seizures. Erm....actually anyone around me will have aural seizures. Silly. Phones don't have ears.

Anyhow...I have to work on my program. Hrm. Everything is quite interesting (actually no).

I'm not making much sense right now. It's all good.

Quite the interesting weekend.

My brother played in the pit orchestra for his school's production of Jesus Christ Superstar. I was impressed...like forreals.

First of all the girl who played Mary Magdalene had an incredible voice. I listened to a recording of "Everything's Alright" and dood, the girl that I saw on Saturday was ten times better than the one on the recording.

And--okay there were a couple guys that they got to dress in these gold speedo/brief/bikini bottom type things (you could tell by the way they moved that they were from the dance department) and like whoa try to get any guy from any other high school to do that. And then try to get them to get up on stage and dance in them. Impossible, no? But by far one of the things that blew me away--when Judas had to kiss Jesus Judas actually kissed Jesus...on the mouth. I guess that's the type of dedication you'll get from an arts school.

On Sunday my brother had a chamber concert at the Huntington Library. It was in a covered area right in front of the art museum. By far the nicest venue they get for their concerts.

Sipping a doubleshot right now. I'm so tired.
*this was posted waaay after I wrote it...the connection was down =\

I had this big mexican food craving for the past few days. Not Taco Hell mexican food, but something slightly less fake--like El Tepeyac fake mexican food. Yum.

Turns out my dad went there yesterday with a friend and had brought home some sort of burrito thing. So I ate half of it today.

I've never had a craving for mexican food before. Lordage.

Oh yes, and I must thank Irv for the ride home. He likes cutting people off. I guess it's better than merging into people =X

Okay so I had this strange dream last night. I was taking an ICS final and I didn't finish in time so Prof T told me I could keep the final for an extra day (which would never happen but oh well it was a dream) so I did. So anyway after I turned it in my ICS21 prof tried to kill me by driving me into a window two stories up. But I didn't die. And then Apes came up to me with my scantron and told me that I got a 13--which was a C+. Funny how I was more upset about getting the bad grade than I was about the fact that my former professor had tried to kill me.

Strange.

Must blog this before I forget (heheh)
T: Would you marry out of your religion?

DMan: Yeah

T: Would you marry out of your ethnicity?

DMan: Yeah

T: Would you marry out of your...your...

Me: ...species?

DMan: Yeah I'm going to go marry a tree.

Me: Would you marry out of your gender?

DMan: (brief pause) No

...DMan's last answer prompted both T and I to crack up and T to go tell everyone sitting outside about DMan's newfound sexual preference. Heheh...think about what you say before you say it yo.

Oh and speaking of DMan he just sent me a link. A link to a Mad Cow. It's pretty profane, so if you don't like that kind of stuff you'd best avoid it.

(link) Midori | 0 comments | 10:59 PM

One day in class when sixteen-year-old M was lamenting the dearth of perfect guys
M: It is so hard to find the perfect man!

Everyone starts cracking up because it sounds so ridiculous coming from the mouth of a high school junior

M: No really!

K: Don't worry M, I've already found the perfect guy.

--dead silence--then everyone starts cracking up again because what K said was the most ridiculous response anyone could have come up with.

MT: And that's supposed to make her feel better?

I really don't like this girl K. I just feel that she's incredibly self-righteous and condescending and it drives me crazy. I don't know if anyone feels the same way I do but grrr.... she really irritates me.

I don' t know why I've been feeling so vicious lately.

Oh yeah. This is how evil I am.

You are 60% evil! [?]
More evil than good, eh? You waver between good and evil. Mostly evil, but sometimes you do some good...sometimes. You're quite the good/evil mixture!

*I just realized I had written about K before...here.

Okay Tbone just sent me the new Matrix site thing. I watched the trailer. I remembered that someone (my dad?) told me that all that streaming green crap was Japanese. So I looked this time and what do you know?
click for larger image

A shot of the trailer

A section of the image flipped and enlarged.

Yeah so about half (maybe more) of the streaming green stuff is katakana flipped over. I think it's all random. None of it makes any real words (that I can see, anyway).

Oh well. I thought it was interesting.

Mofo: Do you speak Chinese?

Me: No.

Mofo: You speak any Chinese at all?

Me: No! *click*

Someone just called and when I answered, he started talking in rapid Chinese (I think it was Cantonese). When he (finally) stopped I simply told him that he had the wrong number. He then proceeded to ask me a bunch of incomprehensible questions in his thick accent and ask me whether I spoke Chinese or not about three or four times as if he didn't believe me. I finally hung up on him. Frick! I don't speak Chinese!

On second thought I do know how to say the equivalent of f*ck you. Maybe I should have told him that.

Me (left) and Ape right before we headed home

These were all taken...ummm...May third I believe. Yes, on Friday. I blogged about it too. Anyhow, time to get some sleep. Maybe.

The ICS labs really smell.

Actually, it's just the people in them.

Nothing interesting/entertaining to write about today.

I'm worn out. Really worn out.

But I watched Anastasia with Apes today!

Finally!

I really hate this damned machine
I wish that they would sell it.
It never does quite what I want
But only what I tell it.

Oh my lordage it was a horrible night/morning. Over ten hours of solid programming--9:00pm last night until 7:30am this morning.

If builders built buildings the way programmers wrote programs, then the first woodpecker that came along would destroy civilisation.
If the program that I was working on right now were a building, anyone who touched it would be dead by now. That's right. I'm nowhere near done. It's all trial-and-error.

Be careful about using the following code -- I've only proven that it works, I haven't tested it.
That's right--the program sort of works. I mean, it compiles and runs and all, but I'm not done...and then I still have to do my test classes. Screwy.

There are only two industries that refer to their customers as "users".
I still don't know what the other industry is. Would somebody tell me?

Theory is when you know something, but it doesn't work. Practice is when something works, but you don't know why. Programmers combine theory and practice: Nothing works and they don't know why.
My absolute favorite quote. The first time I saw it was on DKs page. Let me tell you--my program does not work and believe me, I have no idea why. Lordage lordage. It's going to be another long night.

Quotes taken from here

Damy: This class is only 50 minutes long? It feels like an eternity.

Me: I don't know. It feels like only 40 minutes to me.

Damy: Gee, I wonder why.

Some social science club or organization or something had written all these feel-good messages in chalk all over campus. Funny thing is, as I make my way across campus to my first class on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, the one I always see is the one that says "Relax! You're not late!" yet my cell reads 10:05 and class started at ten--probably a little earlier since many of the clocks on campus are a little fast. It's a bad habit.

All of you females out there be careful when you're out by yourself at night--or during the day for that matter. It's not safe.

(link) Midori | 0 comments | 8:50 PM

there is a bird on my window. and it's showing me its ass.

Haha yeah so Leah finally updated.

Hmm...the DMan finally got his digicam pics uploaded...I wonder whether he'd let me take some....

(link) Midori | 0 comments | 10:28 AM

Okay I think Harisu is very pretty. My point of posting it was...Harisu is a trans. She got a sex change when he was 19 months old. It was probably a good idea for his parents to make that decision because look at where she is now.

Somehow the whole deal reminds me of that movie that the Pho King showed us during gov one day--That's the Way I Like It or something like that.

Anyhow I'm going home for the weekend (big surprise). My brother has a concert today (Beethoven's Lenore [Leonore?] and something else that I know but I forgot what...woooohoo) and Leahcimar is coming back! Hope to have a get together on Saturday or something or other. And of course there's my program. Blasted thing.

Feeling painfully unmotivated to do much of anything anymore. It's like senioritis, but worse.

Time to do something productive for a change. Lordage.

On the other hand take look at this. First off, anything AZN can never be good (note: AZN is quite different from ASIAN). I've never heard so many asians try to be black. They sound exactly as if they were trying to emulate black rappers in the industry. Oh yeah, and the girls can't sing either (pulled from IIstix.com)

You may think I'm being a hypocrite because of the "ghetto" language I use sometimes (oh yeah, and because I can't sing either) but I do realize that I sound moronic when I use it (which is why I do it to begin with). I have to amuse myself somehow.

(link) Midori | 0 comments | 10:50 PM

I need to chill. The stress is making me headachy depressed and nauseous. And I'm getting palpitations again. At first they were cool but now they make me feel sorta ill and fatigued.

Time to get a reasonable amount of sleep. Peace out.

(link) Midori | 0 comments | 2:40 AM

Strings are hard to get in tune
So I went to the concert yesterday. Sorry to say but the only group that really sounded decent (actually...they sounded pretty good) was the symphonic band. The strings were terribly horribly out of tune and *yeesh* it was painful. I could see Yume cracking up to my left and Sar cringing to my right.

Small pieces of gum suck
So Damy had a tin of Everest gum. It tasted okay, but you really need two pieces or it just doesn't feel right.

Me + Yume + MoFricker= deadly combination
Yume was right when she said "We three can't go anywhere together!" We wound up going to Carrows after the concert which was a lot of fun. We were being incredibly loud but we couldn't help it. Tbone and Sar seemed slightly embarassed/amused but I know they liked it.

You can make butter with half and half
We shook up five of those little plastic cups of half and half that they serve with coffee. We made enough butter to spread on a triangle of toast.

How to make a Ranch Margarita
Get a small plastic cup of ranch dressing. Mix in strawberry jam and two kinds of tabasco (red and green). Stir well. Moisten rim of cup and sprinkle enough salt to coat it. Garnish with a piece of cheesy broccoli, a wedge of potato, and one or two shakes of pepper. Try to find someone who'll drink it for less than five bucks.

Windows fog really quickly in a small car with five passengers
And it's very very hard to get them unfogged afterward =X

Late night talks never grow old
Sar and I had one of those talks after a stop at Ape's house and a stop at MoFricker's to drop him off. We had a lot of catching up to do, so we wound up talking past four. Oh yes it was murder waking up the next morning, but it was worth it.

It's strange watching the band play when I'm not playing with them
Taco Mambo, Land of a Thousand (or just Land as MIB had always said), Gimme Some Lovin'--I still have them all memorized. It was just straight up strange listening to the band play when I didn't have an instrument in my own hands.

It's strange going back...
...and realizing that it's not my place anymore.

It was a long and unproductive weekend but all well worth it. I missed you guys.

(link) Midori | 0 comments | 11:11 PM

I meant to post my brother's mp3 up. It's actually up elsewhere on the site (the main) but I have the oddest feeling that very few people actually check anything on this page besides this. Anyhow, my dad made a cd with two tracks of my brother in competition so I ripped and uploaded them. Here's the mp3 from my brother's first competition: Mozart's Oboe quartet in F major arranged for piano and oboe (download 5.1 MB)

Went to Tower today. Bought Michelle Branch's The Spirit Room because Ape always plays her music in the car =D We have way too much fun together. Also got an inexpensive Shostakovich CD because...well it was cheap and it had his 5th symphony on it. There are a lot of classical CDs I want but I need to lay off on the heavy spending until I find a job =X Blasted.

Oh yes, there's an SHS concert in the big gym at 7:30 tonight, so you know where I'll be =D

Happy Birthday P!

Yes, it is his birthday today (the fourth) but we celebrated Friday since a bunch of us (including P I believe) were going home Saturday.

It was a really beautiful day today. Nice weather yes it was.

Anyhow, thirteen of us went to the Macaroni Grill at the Tustin Marketplace for dinner at about ten. By then me, Apes and Random were starving like madd with a double d. It was fun drawing on the table with the awesome crayola crayons with the colors written in Italian. If DMan can get me his pics then maybe I'll post some.

Apes took me home after we got back to the dorm. By the time we left it was past twelve. My throat hurts because we were singing most of the way home.

Apes told me about the big hardcore looking black guy she saw walking at school. She was on her way to the dorm or on the way to class or yeah I forget, but anyhow she said she saw him walking, and then all of a sudden he bent over to pick up a snail and move it out of the walkway. He probably saved it's life =) How endearing is that? That's something I'd like to have seen.

Anyhow, it's getting late. The Brother is going to take his SATIIs tomorrow (technically...today). I wish him the best of luck, even though I know he doesn't need it.

I'm out like I'm out all.

(link) Midori | 0 comments | 2:01 AM

I just came back from dinner at Mugen (thanks Damy). I really miss miso soup.

I've been feeling crappy ever since my first class (well, technically not a class but whatever...) I was so tired I had a headache for whatever reason. I didn't get all that much sleep last night, but I've gotten less before and never has it resulted in a headache. I took a nap afterward and felt pretty crappy after that too. I still had the headache and I had this semi-delirious feeling while going to class. Ugh. I felt better afterward but I still feel like I've been crying for an hour. The runny nose, the pain in my temple, the same mellow/worn out feeling. I'm going to take a short nap and then study bio. Midterm tomorrow.

(link) Midori | 0 comments | 7:27 PM

I donno but ice cream is good. Apparently it was customer appreciation day at Baskins today so Damy and I went after I had dinner w/ M after my ICS midterm. So yes there was free ice cream and a very long line. It was all good. We chilled at South Coast Plaza afterward. I overloaded on cologne and now I smell cheap.

I was telling M that his friend J was quite a character, but I randomly recalled some term he told me about during the Davis trip. "Bone-ugly". You know the whole "beauty is only skin deep" thing? Bone-ugly girls are the ones who are only pretty on the outside. Interesting. There are a lot of guys that can fit that term too. I would say it's unisex.

Anyhow I'm fricken exhausted. Time to chillax.

(link) Midori | 0 comments | 9:48 PM

I've been compelled to post. Whoever thinks ICE CREAM is sensual, raise your hand. Um okay, you guys are all freaks. Okay, bye.
